The White Hart Hamstead Marshall (CLOSED) (3.5m)

(Former-pub) RG20 0HW SU 414654
About four miles from Newbury along the back road to Hungerford.
The White Hart is now closed, though the locals are opposing the proposal to use the site for private houses. If you can park here for the walk you could go to one of several pubs within a couple of miles - the Red House, Marsh Benham, The Craven Arms, Enborne, the Furze Bush, Ball Hill, or the Blue Ball or Dundas Arms in Kintbury.

From The White Hart, go towards Newbury, and in 400yds turn R up a footpath uphill through fields. On reaching a lane, turn R and follow it through Holtwood and downhill for 500yds more where take a footpath R that comes out in 500 yds onto a main road. Go R for 400yds and turn R at the T junction towards Holtwood. In 150yds, take a footpath L uphill with a wood on the R until you meet a lane to Waterman's Farm. Here turn 90 degrees R and follow the path through woods and downhill across fields to Plumb's Farm, which is opposite the pub.
