The Red Lion Chieveley (3.7m)

Pub-website RG20 8XB SU 475737
About five miles from Newbury. Take the A34 north to the M4 interchange where follow M4 and Chieveley, go under the M4, shortly fork L for Chieveley, turn L at the T junction, when the pub is some 300yds on the L.
A very lively pub that will provide decent reasonably priced bar snacks and meals. Good draught beers, ususally Arkells.

Turn L from the pub and take the third turning L in some 600yds – there is a FP sign. After 100yds down the lane, take the FP to the R and bear R for about 800yds to the end of the field. Go L for 300yds, then go half R across the cultivated field for 700yds till it joins a leafy track. Now turn sharp L and follow the track for a mile, past Hazelhanger Farm downhill to some more farm buildings. Take the marked FP (not on the map) behind a large barn, and follow this till it meets another FP by a garden seat. Follow the LH path uphill between hedges until it joins the FP you used on the way out, then return along the lane and the road to the pub. (From the map, you will be able to see shorter alternative walks).
