The Pot Kiln Frilsham (2.6m)

Pub-website RG18 0XX SU 553731
About twelve miles from Newbury. Take the B4009 to Hermitage, then the Yattendon road. On entering that village, keep SO where the road bears sharp L and follow the turning for two miles to the pub.
Until converted to a 'Gastropub', this was the quintessential country pub. In the much reduced bar area, small parties can still find rather pricey filled ciabatta rolls. Otherwise, one can splash out in the restaurant. The beer is still excellent, as it should be with The West Berks Brewery nearby. Closed on Tuesdays.

Take the stile by the front wall of the pub garden and follow through the field for some 800yds to a metalled lane. Take the second path into the woods after about 75yds and go down through the woods to Hawkridge Farm. Cross the lane here into more open country, going R then L after 400yds to follow the field path joining the edge of a wood to the end of a lane near Rushdens Farm. Then bear L onto a path going up into the wood, and keep SO for three quarters of a mile until you come out into a field within sight of the pub.
See The Bull, Stanford Dingley for a walk you can also start at The Pot Kiln.
