Website-on-pub RG26 5EP SU 621598
About 16 miles from Newbury. Go past AWE Aldermaston, then R at the roundabout into Soke Road. Follow this to Silchester, where turn R at The Calleva Arms, and go down this road for 3 miles.
An old-fashioned pub that serves excellent and reasonably priced baguettes. It has decent draught beer, usually Ringwood from the cask.

Leave the pub and go about 200yds down the road. Opposite an old chapel, take the lane on the L to a small stables. Go over the stile and through the yard to take a track slightly R of SO. Follow this for 200yds until the FP is signed into a field through an iron gate. Keep the hedge on your R until you reach some outbuildings, then turn L across the fields. The path kinks R at a stile and footbridge over a stream, and in 400yds more comes out through another iron gate onto a lane. Cross this to another FP that goes L before veering R. Follow this with the hedge on your R until it goes into a wood. In 600yds it emerges onto a road, which cross and enter Pamber Forest. Take one of the many paths forward until you reach the main NNW-SSE straight path through the forest, and turn L until you reach the gate and stile at the end. Go up the field for 300 yds, then turn L for the pub.
