Follow this to Silchester, where turn R at The Calleva Arms, and go down this road for 3 miles. An old-fashioned pub that serves excellent and reasonably priced baguettes. It has decent draught beer, usually Ringwood from the cask. |
Leave the pub and go about 200yds down the road.
Opposite an old chapel, take the lane on the L to a small stables. Go over the stile and through the yard
to take a track slightly R of SO. Follow this for 200yds until the FP is signed into a field through an
iron gate. Keep the hedge on your R until you reach some outbuildings, then turn L across the fields. The
path kinks R at a stile and footbridge over a stream, and in 400yds more comes out through another iron gate
onto a lane. Cross this to another FP that goes L before veering R. Follow this with the hedge on your R
until it goes into a wood. In 600yds it emerges onto a road, which cross and enter Pamber Forest. Take one
of the many paths forward until you reach the main NNW-SSE straight path through the forest, and turn L until
you reach the gate and stile at the end. Go up the field for 300 yds, then turn L for the pub.
