The Pelican, Froxfield (3.9 or 3.2m)
Walk back along the A4 for about 200 yds, then turn R when the lane goes over the railway then the canal. go forward 150yds then take the path half L. This rises quite steeply, levelling out and reaching a tarmac lane after 500yds. Turn L along this for 300yds, then take the FP L downhill, which turns R near the bottom of the hill and runs alongside a wooded area on the L, following a stream before going under the railway to meet the canal. (At this point you can simply go L along the S bank towpath directly back to the pub, reducing the walk to 3.2m). Cross this at the lock and turn R on the N bank till you come to the swing bridge at Marsh Gate. Cross this and return along the (S bank) towpath of the canal for about 1200yds to reach the outbound lane to return to the pub.
