The Jack Russell, Faccombe (3.0m)

(pub-website) SP11 0DS SU 391579
About eleven miles from Newbury, take the A343 towards Andover, and after Highclere go R immediately before the Yew Tree. Then through narrow lanes, again forking R in Ashmansworth to reach Faccombe and the pub.
A bit in the back of beyond, but now open again after a period of closure: the pub has been extended to provide a large restaurant area with an extensive menu, a bit on the pricey side. Good selection of draught beers.

Leaving the pub on your R, continue down the lane for 400 yds and at a joining lane, turn L onto a track. Pass a barn on the R and continue for 600 yds when the track turns L. Follow it to a lane, which cross and take the path opposite. This drops steadily, coming out on a lane in another 600 yds. Go downhill on the lane for 350 yds then go L past a gate, and follow the slightly winding path in the dry valley bottom to some farm buildings in 1100 yds. Go L round the buildings, and up a track, which becomes very steep entering a wood, only levelling off as you leave the wood. At the top, take the path half L, which shortly comes out on a lane. Turn R for 400 yds to reach the pub.
