The Fox, Peasemore (3.8m)

pub-website RG20 7JN SU 455774
About ten miles from Newbury via the B4494 Wantage road. Four miles after passing under the M4 turn R for Peasemore, and you come to the pub in 2 miles more.
Under new management since March 2013, the Fox has shaken-off the Hounds following it. It remains a lively pub next to the village cricket ground, serving real beers. Good light lunch and fuller menus are offered, but ONLY THURSDAY TO SUNDAY.

Go up the lane by the side of the pub and at the end of the copse in about 600yds, take the FP L that leads down through fields, kinking to the L at the bottom of the hill, and on to the Newbury-Wantage road. Turn R then immediately L up a track to Brightwalton Holt, following the track as it bends round to the L and then for 1000yds forward to Leckhampstead, bearing R where the track divides. Pass the curious war memorial and the now-closed Stag inn then opposite a turning to the R, take a FP on the L that passes an old chapel, then veers R between wire fences to a gate, and drops through fields to the road. Cross this and take the field path SO up the hill. This meets a track that shortly comes out on the lane from Newbury. Turn L for about 1200yds to reach the pub.
