The Swan, Wilton (3.5m)
Go back the way you came for about 300yds then fork R to
follow the lane past Wilton Windmill, well worth a visit if you have time.
500 yds past the windmill, turn
L onto a track, and in a further 250 yds, turn R onto a footpath that takes you to the track through Bedwyn
Brail. This bends gradually to the L, and where it kinks to the R keep SO down a path that comes out into
the open and drops down to join the canal towpath. Turn L on this and follow the towpath for a mile and a half until you are opposite the Crofton Pumping Engines, then take a FP L along Wilton Water to reach the village.

About seventeen miles from Newbury along the A4 through Hungerford to Froxfield, where
turn left and follow directions for Great Bedwyn. Turn L down the street then R and follow the minor road fro 2 miles to Wilton, where the Swan is SO.
