The pub, in the centre of the village just opposite the Swan, has only limited parking, so it is advisable to book a table. The meals there have been excellent. |
Cross the road from the pub and go up the road to the N (from the A34) for 150 yds and take a turning to the R. In a further 100yds, turn L onto the FP up onto the downs. In about a mile and a half uphill, this meets the Ridgeway, where turn R. Follow the track for about half a mile passing an entrance to Ilsley Barn Farm on the R. Opposite some wide metal gates, turn half R onto another track, and half R again when it meets another track. Follow this downhill for about half a mile till it meets a road, and go forward on the RH footpath for half a mile back to the pub.
