The Blade Bone, Chapel Row (3.1m)

Pub-website RG7 6PD SU 571697
About 9 miles from Newbury through Thatcham then follow the road up Harts Hill through Upper Bucklebury to Chapel Row.
A fairly upmarket pub with decent beer though the food tends to be on the 'precious' side. They will do a limited range of sandwiches, also rather pricey.

Turn R out of the pub towards Bradfield, and R down a track in about 250 yds. Follow this downhill until it bears R, and take the FP to the L past a stream to a gate. Bear half R across the field to the opposite corner just to the R of farm buildings and turn L in the drive. In 100 yds cross the stile on the R and follow the field path slightly L up the centre of the field. As this rises gently, you can see Douai Abbey on the L. Emerging on a tarmac lane, go R for about 250yds, and turn L down a track just before a road junction. About 100 yds after the heavy metal gate go half R along a FP between hedges. Follow SO through the wood to a gate into a field, and keep near the RH hedge until you come out on another tarmac road. Turn R for some 400 yds to the triangular road junction, where turn L for 100 yds to the FP on the R. Go forward on this for half a mile crossing two streams by plank bridges (with rather soggy approaches) and go uphill keeping the modernistic "King Charles' Cottage" to your R. Then take the FP immediately R (not marked on the fingerpost) about 600 yds on the level, later passing the fronts of properties, kinking L along a drive for a bit before going R again then meeting the road. It's another 500 yds to the pub.
